Sump Pumps

A sump pump only has one job, but it's an important one — the day it fails is usually the day you needed it most, during a storm or spring thaw when the basement floor drain is working overtime. We install, repair and service primary sump pumps, backup pumps, and battery backup systems so a single point of failure doesn't turn into a flooded basement.

For new installations we size the pump to your actual water table and pit conditions rather than defaulting to whatever's on the shelf, and we make sure the discharge line is routed and sloped correctly so water actually leaves the property instead of recirculating back toward the foundation. Check valve placement matters more than most homeowners realize — a missing or failed check valve makes the pump cycle constantly and wears it out years early.

Battery backup systems are worth serious consideration for any basement with finished space, storage, or a furnace at risk — a power outage during a heavy rain is exactly when primary pumps most often can't keep up, and a battery backup (or a water-powered backup where code and water pressure allow) keeps pumping when the power doesn't cooperate.

We also service existing systems: testing float switches, checking check valves, clearing debris from the pit, and confirming the backup actually engages when it's supposed to — most sump pump failures are caught during routine testing, not during the emergency itself.
